Coaches vs. Cancer

On Friday, the Lady Cats will be hosting their annual Coaches vs. Cancer basketball game.  Mrs. Fisher, a kindergarten teacher at Keystone Elementary, is a coach for the Lady Cats and has taken the lead on activities.  Below is a note from Mrs. Fisher about the event and her family.  

On Friday, students are encouraged wear pink or camo and bring $1 to support the cause.  Please let me know if you have any questions!

Note from Mrs. Fisher - 

This note will be coming home with your kinder this afternoon.  I coach the Lady Bobcats Basketball team and we are hosting a fundraising event for the American Cancer Society called Coaches vs Cancer.  During the game there will be games for kids and adults alike, a baked goods sale, and t-shirts to purchase.  If you are looking for something fun to do on Friday, the 15th...check out this event.

Cancer has been something that struck my family twice in the last year and 1/2.  Last October my mother in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer.  She has undergone surgery and chemotherapy sessions and now is considered CANCER FREE!! 

My own mother was diagnosed this June with Multiple Myeloma.  This is a cancer that is found in the blood.  My mom has undergone cycles of chemotherapy, radiation, and recently surgery.  She is still fighting the battle and reminds me every day how to be strong and brave when faced with adversity.  This year the coaching staff surprised me with highlighting my family's story to be told at the basketball game this Friday.  All proceeds from this event will go towards the American Cancer Society and the Benton County Relay for Life Chapter.  It would be great to see some familiar faces in the crowd on Friday.  Make sure to wear either Benton Blue or camoon Friday to both school and the game.  And give me a high-five at the game for luck...cheer loud!--Kim
