"I can..." Statements for the Week of April 11th - Reminders!

• There is a note going home today about Breakfast Buddies at Keystone Elementary.  This is sponsored by the BCPTO and will be on April 29th at 7:30am.
• There will be a note coming home on Monday about our 1st grade field trip.  Please sign and return BOTH forms.

We are continuing to study weather.  Your first grader is in a small group studying weather.  Please be sure to check our blog frequently so you can see the progress they are making on their weather report.  Jonathan Wylie from the Grant Wood AEA will be coming to Keystone Elementary to help us record it with a a green screen!  

Here are our "I can..." statements for the week of April 11th:

I can...

• read and write words with ou like found, now, and plow
• change the middle sound of a word to create a new word
• make connections to text and pictures to better understand
• identify nonfiction text features
• identify cause and effect in text
• find 1 more, 1 less, 10 more, and 10 less than any given number
• use the <, >, and = symbols to compare 2 numbers
• order numbers from greatest to least and least to greatest
• identify the steps in the water cycle

We did a fun activity today called "Face to Face/Back to Back."  This strategy encourages thinking and sharing ideas.  Ask your first grader what we were talking about! :)
