The link below will take you to the master sight word list. Please practice these words with your first grader as often as possible. Knowing these sight words and the ability to read them automatically is key in reading fluency. Smooth, clear, expressive reading will become a focus in first grade as we get beyond just decoding and really into what a good reader sounds like. These lists will also be made available on our Spelling City page. (You can find that link in a previous blog post.) Some of the words will overlap, but it is another resource for practicing a very important skill.

Once your student can read each word in the color coded list, he or she will get a certificate and sign his or her name to the Sight Word Club wall.
