We started our Daily 5 Literacy Stations today and the students in 1U did fabulously! We've spent a lot of time building stamina and practicing good work habits with all of the different activities. The students know their purpose is always to become a better reader and writer and we're all glad they can have some fun and choice while learning.
When rolling out Daily 5 Literacy Stations with a new group, I incorporate a Daily 5 Award Winner. This is one person in our class who does an especially good job at all of the stations and is able to demonstrate smooth transitions. (We move to different stations throughout the room. We've talked a lot about how important smooth transitions are in order to get more learning time.) This is something that will fade out as students get more comfortable in the routine.
Today's Daily 5 Award Winner is..... Troy!
